O'Neill receives Celtic backing after 'painful' week

Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson has stated that the club will back manager Martin O'Neill following a difficult week that featured three consecutive losses, including a derby defeat against Rangers and a home reversal against Ferencvaros in the Europa League. O'Neill had previously hinted at considering his future after the recent results, which followed the team's failure to secure a spot in the Champions League group stage after a play-off loss to LASK.

Alongside these sporting struggles, financial results released by the club revealed a drop in revenue of nearly thirty-three million pounds and a total loss of four point eight million pounds, largely attributed to missing out on Europe's premier competition. Despite these financial and on-field setbacks, Nicholson emphasized unity within the organization to help the coaching staff and squad refocus on domestic competitions and the Europa League.
