
Notre Dame entered its sixth game of the 2026 season unbeaten at 5-0 and sitting at No. 3 in the AP poll after a 37‑26 victory over North Carolina, where quarterback CJ Carr completed 21 of 29 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.
Carr’s season numbers now stand at 1,197 yards, a 71.0% completion rate, 13 touchdowns and a single pick, giving him a 90.4 QBR that ranks fourth nationally, while wideout Jordan Faison contributed a game‑high eight catches for 132 yards and two scores.
The Irish announced on Instagram that Carr has been named one of the fifteen finalists for the 2026 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, joining past winners such as Peyton and Eli Manning, Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels; former Notre Dame honorees include Tony Rice and Brady Quinn. Head coach Marcus Freeman’s squad will host Stanford at 3:30 p.m.
ET on Saturday with NBC coverage, aiming to retain the Legends Trophy they have held since 2023.
