Northwestern is facing a significant roster concern as they prepare to host Penn State on Friday, with standout tight end Luke Dehnicke trending toward missing the contest. The Wildcats' pass catcher was shifted from questionable to doubtful on the latest availability report after suffering a head impact during last weekend's narrow 29-23 defeat against Indiana.
During that matchup, which saw him catch seven passes for 140 yards and earn national team of the week recognition, Dehnicke exited the game in the fourth quarter following a 41-yard reception from Aidan Chiles and did not return. Through three appearances this year, the former Minnesota Duluth transfer has accumulated 11 receptions for 208 yards, sitting second in both categories on the squad behind Griffin Wilde.
If the 6-foot-6 target is ultimately ruled out, graduate student Alex Honig is expected to step into the starting role against the Nittany Lions.
