During their third matchup of the 2026 campaign, the New York Jets suffered a 31 to 24 defeat against the Detroit Lions. After a scoreless opening period, the home side broke the deadlock with a short field goal before Geno Smith connected with Kenyon Sadiq for a touchdown pass that put New York ahead.
Detroit responded prior to intermission when Amon-Ra St. Brown caught a scoring pass to secure a 10 to 7 advantage at the half.
Following the break, Jahmyr Gibbs extended the lead via a 17 yard rushing score, though Jason Sanders later answered for the visitors with a 42 yard field goal. Gibbs found the end zone again early in the final quarter to cap another successful offensive series for the Lions.
