Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami has addressed questions regarding his potential retirement from professional cricket. Despite being overlooked by national selectors for the upcoming tour of New Zealand and remaining out of the Indian squad for over a year, the thirty-six-year-old athlete stated he maintains no immediate plans to step away from the sport.
Speaking during a recent media appearance, Shami explained that his continued passion for early morning training routines and enjoyment of daily athletic preparations provide him with sufficient motivation to keep playing. He asserted that he will only consider calling it a career on the day he wakes up feeling bored or fatigued by these preparations.
Meanwhile, the experienced pacer has continued delivering strong performances in domestic fixtures, recently claiming a five-wicket match haul for Bengal against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy. His bowling effort helped secure a nine-wicket victory at Kalyani, following prior success in the Duleep Trophy representing the East Zone.
