Mikey Musumeci drops UFC BJJ title to ‘prioritize’ MMA, ends serious jiu-jitsu career

Mikey Musumeci has officially relinquished his bantamweight championship belt within the UFC BJJ organization. The athlete intends to shift his primary focus toward mixed martial arts training, though he plans to continue participating in specialized grappling exhibition matches for the promotion moving forward.

Musumeci noted that he has remained undefeated in his weight class for nearly a decade and feels he has achieved his competitive goals in both gi and no-gi disciplines. His tenure with the organization included six matches, though industry observers frequently criticized the quality of his opposition during that period.

While he recently secured a victory over Bryce Mitchell using modified rules, he is now transitioning away from his traditional professional grappling career to pursue a new path in MMA.
