The Seattle Seahawks are eyeing a potential return for running back Zach Charbonnet, who could make his season debut this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Mike Macdonald indicated Charbonnet is progressing well, having completed a full week of practice reps, and could be activated from injured reserve to the 53-man roster in time for the game.
Charbonnet, who suffered an ACL tear in January, was Seattle’s leading touchdown scorer last season with 12, and his return would provide much-needed stability to an offense struggling with ball security and efficiency from its current backs. Macdonald praised Charbonnet’s resilience, noting his determination to push through the recovery process and return to form.
The fourth-year player from UCLA has been practicing in limited capacity since his injury but appears ready to contribute if cleared for Sunday’s matchup against Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker III, who currently leads the NFL in rushing yards.
Charbonnet’s activation status will be confirmed this week, but Macdonald’s optimism suggests he could see action against the Chiefs. His presence would add depth to a backfield that has been thin without Jadarian Price, who remains sidelined until Week 8.
The Seahawks’ offensive line and coaching staff will be closely monitoring his progress, as his return could be a turning point for a unit searching for consistency on the ground.
