The Houston Texans have finalized a major offseason trade by acquiring wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for second- and sixth-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, along with Arizona’s seventh-round selection in 2026.
Harrison, a former Ohio State standout and two-time All-American, was selected fourth overall by the Cardinals in 2024 but struggled to replicate his collegiate success, posting modest production in two seasons with the team. His limited role in Arizona—including just five catches for 85 yards in the team’s first four games this season—led to speculation about his future, with former NFL wideout T.J.
Houshmandzadeh suggesting a trade could provide him a fresh start. The move reunites Harrison with Ohio State teammate and Texans quarterback C.J.
Stroud, offering him a new opportunity to regain his elite form after injuries and inconsistent play in Arizona.
Harrison’s collegiate career was marked by dominance, including leading the Big Ten in receiving touchdowns in back-to-back seasons and finishing fourth in Heisman Trophy voting in 2023. However, his NFL debut fell short of expectations, with 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024, followed by a reduced 2025 campaign due to illness and a heel injury.
The trade, reportedly finalized after Houston’s 1-4 start to the season, gives the Texans a high-profile addition to bolster their passing game alongside Stroud, while Arizona prioritizes draft capital in addressing their receiver needs.
