Malik Hooker, DeMarvion Overshown dealing with injuries
The Dallas Cowboys encountered severe setbacks beyond their 28-20 season-opening loss against the division rival New York Giants, during which opposing quarterback Jaxson Dart threw three touchdowns and 230 yards on 23-of-29 passing alongside 11 rushing attempts. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer addressed health concerns for two primary defensive starters who exited the contest, confirming that both are slated to be sidelined for multiple matchups.
Safety Malik Hooker potentially sustained a fractured forearm, prompting consultations with a medical specialist to evaluate his recovery schedule. Meanwhile, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown developed another leg ailment, diagnosed specifically as a hamstring injury, dealing an early blow to the team's defensive unit.
