Malik Davis injury opens the door for Emari Demercado
The Dallas Cowboys encountered unexpected turbulence in their offensive backfield just prior to their Week 1 clash with the New York Giants. Running back Malik Davis was taken off the practice field on a cart this Friday after sustaining a severe hip issue.
With medical procedures slated for Saturday to repair the hip, the team intends to place Davis on injured reserve for an extended absence.
Davis had recently secured the primary backup position behind starter Javonte Williams after Dallas released young rushers Phil Mafah and Jaydon Blue at the conclusion of training camp. In the wake of this setback, newly acquired waiver addition Emari Demercado is set to step directly into a significant role for the upcoming season opener.
