Orlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. has spent his offseason balancing elite basketball preparation with unwavering support for his girlfriend, Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese, as she led the team to its first WNBA Finals appearance since 2013.
Carter, who trains alongside NBA peers ahead of his sixth season, traveled between Atlanta Dream playoff games and team practices, including the WNBA Semifinals against the New York Liberty. Reese, now aiming for her first championship, will face the Golden State Valkyries in the 2026 Finals—their first Finals appearance in franchise history.
The couple has maintained focus on their respective careers, blocking out distractions to pursue their professional goals, with Carter calling their summer a blend of hard work, relaxation, and mutual encouragement. Reese’s playoff dominance has cemented her as a key figure in the Dream’s historic run, while Carter’s season begins October 21 against the Atlanta Hawks, leaving open whether he’ll attend Reese’s Finals opener.
