Lynx news: Minnesota makes wrong kind of WNBA history by being eliminated by Liberty

Top-seeded Minnesota suffered a historic 87-71 elimination at the hands of the eighth-seeded New York Liberty on Tuesday at Barclays Center. The postseason sweep marks the first time a number-one seed has ever been eliminated in the opening round of the WNBA playoffs.

Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones combined for 42 points and 18 rebounds in the frontcourt, while Sabrina Ionescu added 18 points. New York's defense successfully stifled the Lynx to 38 percent shooting, bringing an end to Minnesota's campaign.
