Liberty news: Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones lead New York to eliminate Lynx

The New York Liberty secured a spot in the semifinals by defeating the Minnesota Lynx 87-71 in Game 2, completing a sweep of their opening-round series. Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones each contributed 21 points, while Sabrina Ionescu added 18 points to help power New York's offense.

Notably, the trio accounted for or assisted on all 70 points scored by the team during the contest.

With this outcome, Minnesota made league history by becoming the initial top-seeded squad to be eliminated by a number-eight seed. The victorious side now awaits the outcome between the Atlanta Dream and the Washington Mystics to determine their next opponent in the second round.
