The Chicago Blackhawks secured a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night, with Artyom Levshunov delivering the game-sealing goal just 97 seconds into extra time. The win also marked a historic night for Patrick Kane, who broke the NHL record for most assists by a U.S.-born player, surpassing Phil Housley’s mark with his 895th career assist.
Kane’s playmaking continued into overtime, setting up Levshunov’s winner after a series of quick transitions. Connor Bedard, returning from a shoulder injury, scored his first goal of the season on the power play, while Frank Nazar and Ryan Donato added to Chicago’s offensive output.
Winnipeg’s Neal Pionk and Kyle Connor both chipped in for the Jets, but Blackhawks goaltender Spencer Knight made 31 saves to preserve the win, including a critical stop on a two-on-one break earlier in the period.
