Leaning leads Sussex recovery against Hampshire

Jack Leaning rescued Sussex from a disastrous collapse on the opening day of their County Championship Division One fixture, steering his side to a total of 244 with an impressive 78-run knock. Supported by Jack Carson during a crucial 75-run partnership, Leaning later anchored a final-wicket stand before being dismissed by Eddie Jack, as James Fuller and Jack finished with three wickets apiece.

In response, Hampshire struggled significantly at the close of play, stumbling to 55-4 after Jaydev Unadkat claimed two quick dismissals.
