Lane Kiffin motivates LSU football team with viral fake quote from Kentucky star

LSU’s head coach Lane Kiffin is taking creative measures to fire up his team ahead of a critical SEC showdown this weekend. The Tigers (4-1) will travel to face Kentucky (also 4-1) in a matchup where both squads have already suffered a loss to powerhouse programs—LSU to Ole Miss, Kentucky to Alabama.

To build momentum, Kiffin has displayed a fabricated quote in the locker room, falsely attributed to Kentucky’s Kenny Minchey, reading that LSU’s defense and offensive line remain untested. Kentucky’s athletic department later confirmed the quote was entirely manufactured, adding a layer of psychological edge to the Tigers’ preparation.

The game, set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, follows Kentucky’s dramatic overtime win over South Carolina (35-34) last week, where the Wildcats sealed victory with a two-point conversion.

With both teams riding recent momentum, the clash promises to be a high-stakes battle for SEC bragging rights.
