Lahore Qalandars co-owner and COO Sameen Rana has signaled his intent to invest in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), citing his deep passion for Bangladesh cricket and his extensive experience in franchise cricket. Rana, who has spent over a decade overseeing the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, met with BCB president Tamim Iqbal during Bangladesh’s tri-series match against Zimbabwe at the Sheikh Abu Jayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The discussions centered on potential ways to revitalize the BPL, which has faced financial challenges and operational delays. Rana emphasized his willingness to contribute operational expertise, including proposals for a player exchange program that would allow Bangladeshi cricketers to train at Lahore Qalandars’ high-performance facilities in Pakistan, mirroring similar initiatives he’s implemented with teams in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
