Atlanta Braves outfielder Jurickson Profar will take part in the Venezuelan Winter League this offseason, signing with Los Tiburones de La Guaira—a team also linked to Ronald Acuña Jr. in past seasons.
The move comes after Profar missed the entire 2026 campaign due to a second PED suspension, which cost him his designated hitter role and left his future with the Braves uncertain. Though he showed promise in 2025 with a .346 wOBA, 14 home runs, and 123 wRC+ in 80 games, his off-field issues have complicated his standing with the organization.
Braves President/GM Alex Anthopoulos previously hinted that Profar’s spot on the roster was not guaranteed, adding pressure to his comeback efforts. Playing in Venezuela could serve as both a proving ground for his skills and a step toward rebuilding trust with teammates, particularly if Acuña joins him there.
Profar’s decision to return to action—whether in outfield or strictly as a hitter—will be closely watched as he aims to regain his place in Atlanta’s lineup.
