New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh has expressed frustration with the team’s struggling run game, which has failed to produce a clear standout despite multiple attempts to replace Saquon Barkley. The Giants’ backfield—consisting of Devin Singletary, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Cam Skattebo, and Najee Harris—combined for just 34 yards on 14 carries in a recent loss to the Saints, a performance Harbaugh called disappointing.
The team ranks 22nd in the league with a meager 3.8 yards per carry, falling short of expectations despite a high volume of rushing attempts. Skattebo’s role has been sharply reduced after four fumbles in five games, while Tracy managed two touchdowns in the Saints game.
Harbaugh emphasized that consistency and efficiency remain elusive, attributing the issues to blocking and execution rather than effort. The coach reiterated that opportunities in the backfield are earned, not guaranteed, leaving the Giants searching for a Barkley-like breakout player to anchor their offense.
