Newly acquired cornerback Joey Porter Jr. participated in his first practice with the Dallas Cowboys after clearing his physical.
Following a trade from Pittsburgh, Porter stated his back is improving and expressed optimism about making his debut on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that the defender had a positive start on the practice field, though his game status will depend on how the remainder of the week progresses.
Porter joins a secondary dealing with several injuries, as teammates Shavon Revel and Cobie Durant missed practice due to their respective health issues. Additional injury reports indicated that linebacker DeMarvion Overshown sat out for a second consecutive day, safety Malik Hooker was limited with a forearm fracture, and outside linebacker James Houston remained a full participant.
