Following a prolonged contract stalemate, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was traded to the Dallas Cowboys on October 1, 2026.
The Pittsburgh Steelers received a second-round selection and a sixth-round selection in exchange for the defensive back. Porter took to social media shortly after the transaction became official to express his enthusiasm, posting an image redefining a seat belt as a completely locked-up opposing receiver.
Dallas owner Jerry Jones previously acknowledged ongoing discussions regarding roster additions, supported by his recent remarks emphasizing financial commitment to the team's improvement. The newest member of the Cowboys remains without a long-term contract extension following the move, yet the franchise successfully addresses lingering secondary injuries and defensive rebuilding efforts following the prior departure of Micah Parsons.
