Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. learned he was dealt to the Cowboys while sitting in a theater watching the film Heart of the Beast on Wednesday night.
Without a long-term contract extension from Pittsburgh, the defender spent the remainder of the night traveling to join his new squad for a Thursday workout. Porter expressed relief regarding the swap, explaining that the Steelers failed to offer proper respect or appreciation during failed negotiations, whereas Dallas immediately demonstrated its regard for his abilities.
Although playing in the final year of his current deal with a base salary of $3.92 million, and facing reports that the organization plans no immediate extension during the campaign, the defensive back intends to take the field without a new pact. Having missed action this season in Pittsburgh, the newcomer could potentially debut for his new club on Sunday against the Texans.
