Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. learned he was traded to the Cowboys by the Steelers while attending a movie screening of Brad Pitt's Heart of the Beast on Wednesday night.
He immediately pulled an all-nighter to join his new squad for Thursday practice, expressing enthusiasm despite playing out the final year of his contract without an extension at a base salary of $3.92 million. Porter stated that Pittsburgh undervalued him during stalled negotiations and made him feel disrespected, whereas Dallas demonstrated a greater appreciation for his worth.
Although the Cowboys do not intend to negotiate a long-term agreement during the ongoing campaign, Porter intends to suit up without a fresh deal in place. The transaction leaves the incoming cornerback ready to potentially make his debut for Dallas on Sunday against the Texans, after having previously been ruled out for Thursday Night Football by his former franchise.
