Joe Espada’s Tenure With Astros Appears to Be Over

Houston Astros manager Joe Espada’s nine-year tenure with the franchise appears to be nearing its end after the team confirmed plans for a full leadership overhaul. Sources indicate the Astros will not pursue new general manager or managerial candidates until after the World Series, though Espada is reportedly already interviewing for another opportunity—specifically with a division rival.

Earlier this season, Espada was informally told he would not return following the firing of GM Dana Brown, though he agreed to remain through the end of the year. The team later denied the initial report, though the circumstances surrounding Espada’s departure suggest a broader restructuring for 2027, including a managerial search and a potential GM replacement.
