The Winnipeg Jets secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in a thrilling late-game finish on Monday night. Pittsburgh’s Declan Carlile tied the game at 2-2 with 8:53 left in regulation, but Winnipeg’s Cole Perfetti answered almost instantly, scoring just nine seconds later on a quick wrist shot to seal the win.
The Jets’ Alex Iafallo contributed a goal and an assist, while Clay Stevenson made 29 saves in net to help secure the victory. Winnipeg’s Adam Lowry also found the back of the net, while Benjamin Kindel scored for Pittsburgh, who fell just short despite Sergei Murashov’s 30 saves.
The Jets improved to two wins in their last three games after dropping their season opener, while Pittsburgh heads to Washington for their next matchup on Wednesday. Winnipeg will host the Colorado Avalanche in their next game.
