Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has produced a staggering 823 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns through the first five games of the season. Remarkably, that individual output surpasses the combined statistics of the entire active Michigan wide receiver room, which currently sits at 747 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Smith recently delivered a stellar performance against Iowa by hauling in 11 catches for 206 yards and 2 scores, averaging 18.7 yards per catch this year. During this dominant stretch, he secured the Ohio State Triple Crown by breaking the program's career records for receptions with 207, receiving yards with 3,381, and touchdown catches with 36.
In doing so, he surpassed former Buckeye standouts Emeka Egbuka, Michael Jenkins, and Chris Olave.
Looking ahead, Smith is rapidly approaching conference milestones as he chases Purdue legend John Standeford's career receiving yardage record of 3,788 yards and former Michigan star Braylon Edwards' mark of 39 receiving scores. His historic rise builds upon a strong true freshman campaign in 2024 within a pass-heavy Ohio State offense that routinely out-paces Michigan's ground-first scheme.
