During Saturday's home matchup against Syracuse, UConn wide receiver Javon Brown suffered a serious injury in the third quarter following a pass attempt from quarterback Kalieb Osborne in the end zone. Medical personnel tended to the player on the turf for a lengthy duration, removing his shoulder pads and applying a neck brace before rolling him off the playing surface on a stretcher as both squads knelt in solidarity.
Prior to his departure, Brown had accumulated three catches for 49 yards, tying for the squad's leading reception total at the time. The Huskies entered the contest trying to bounce back from a previous road defeat to Miami (Ohio) where they surrendered a fourteen-point advantage.
