Longtime Detroit sports journalist Jack Berry has passed away at age 95. A member of the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame, Berry spent decades covering major events like the 1980 Miracle on Ice and the 1973 Triple Crown for the Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.
Despite a lifelong fear of water, he remained an avid golfer who played regularly well into his final years. He died in West Bloomfield Township following a recent fall.
His career began at United Press International, where he reported on the 1957 NFL championship and the inaugural Buick Open.
