J.J. McCarthy trade: Giants acquire quarterback from Minnesota Vikings

The New York Giants have traded for quarterback J.J. McCarthy from the Minnesota Vikings, according to reports by Ian Rapoport and Jordan Schultz. New York is sending a 2027 fifth-round draft pick to Minnesota to complete the transaction.

This roster move comes after the Giants lost starting signal-caller Jaxson Dart to a season-ending knee injury during their Week 2 defeat against the Los Angeles Rams. Following that setback, Jameis Winston provided uninspiring performances on the field, leaving Jake Haener as the only remaining alternative before this acquisition.
