J.J. McCarthy’s Giants number revealed after shock Vikings trade

Following a sudden trade from Minnesota, newly acquired quarterback J.J. McCarthy will wear jersey number 18 with his new franchise, as his former digit is currently assigned to Isaiah Likely.

The organization brought in the young signal-caller to provide depth in the aftermath of a season-ending knee injury suffered by Jaxson Dart during Week 2. Head coach John Harbaugh expressed enthusiasm about adding the former high draft choice to the roster.

McCarthy arrives after an up-and-down 2025 campaign with the Vikings where he compiled a six-and-four record while dealing with hand and ankle injuries, eventually falling behind Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz on the depth chart. While Jameis Winston retains the starting role for now, the coaching staff will decide whether McCarthy or Jake Haener will serve as the primary backup for the upcoming matchup against the Cardinals.
