The Internationals etched their name into history at the 2024 Bridges Cup by claiming their first-ever title in dominant fashion at Trump Turnberry. After trailing the defending champions, the U.S.
team, by a commanding 12.5-7.5 heading into the final day, the Internationals sealed victory with a 20-12 rout in the singles matches. The Americans, who had won the first three editions of the event, faced an uphill battle after the Internationals extended their lead to 6.5-3.5 on Day 1 at the King Robert The Bruce course and then dominated both the fourball and foursomes sessions on Tuesday at the Ailsa Course.
The U.S. squad, led by captain Jeff Fujimoto, showed early promise in the singles but ultimately faltered, with the Internationals securing key wins in the opening matches.
Daniel Faccini and Jonathan Bale each secured narrow victories in their singles duels, while Andrew Price’s early lead over Andrew Davidson was overturned as the Internationals tightened their grip on the competition. Skipper Simon Holt’s team demonstrated superior clutch performance, outdueling the Americans on a course steeped in golfing legend, including the infamous “Duel in the Sun” between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus.
