Ohio State’s recruiting momentum continued Tuesday as Cleveland St. Ignatius linebacker James Conrad pledged his commitment to the Buckeyes, finalizing his decision after an in-person visit to Columbus over the weekend.
Conrad, who had previously verbally committed to Buffalo, was a late-season target for Michigan as well, but ultimately chose Ohio State’s development-focused program. The Buckeyes now stand at 20 commitments under head coach Ryan Day, with future linebackers coach James Laurinaitis playing a key role in landing Conrad’s pledge.
On the field this fall, Conrad has been a standout with 15 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, praising Laurinaitis’ coaching as a major factor in his decision. His addition strengthens Ohio State’s already strong recruiting class, ranked sixth nationally by Rivals and second in the Big Ten.
Conrad, who hails from Ohio, called the opportunity to represent his home state while playing in the Big Ten a dream come true.
