Important Cowboys vs Commanders storylines on Sunday
Both sitting at 0-1 following opening-week setbacks, the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders prepare for a high-stakes divisional clash in Week 2. Washington enters the contest after a 24-22 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles, an outing where their offense produced only nine points across the first three quarters prior to a 13-point final frame.
Defensive coordinator Daronte Jones emphasized that containing Dallas wideouts CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens will necessitate a unified group effort from his secondary.
Dallas confronts its own pressing challenges after struggling against the running ability of Jaxson Dart. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams cautioned about the dual-threat capability presented by Washington signal-caller Jayden Daniels as the Cowboys fight to avoid an 0-2 start.
On the defensive side, Dallas will also elevate first-year linebacker Jaishawn Barham to the starting middle linebacker spot, entrusting him with the green defensive communication dot.
