Hukporti to undergo surgery after tearing Achilles in Sixers' preseason opener

Philadelphia center Ariel Hukporti will miss the remainder of the season following a non-contact right Achilles tear sustained during Monday's preseason opener against New York. The injury occurred in the first quarter while the big man was guarding Karl-Anthony Towns.

The team confirmed the diagnosis on Tuesday and scheduled the player for immediate surgery. This development creates a significant void in the frontcourt, as the organization was already managing health concerns for Joel Embiid, Adem Bona, and Tacko Fall.

Teammates and staff have expressed disappointment regarding the loss of the newcomer, who had quickly integrated into the locker room culture.
