Hughes focused on Albania before World Cup dream

Wales forward Elise Hughes has framed the upcoming World Cup as the ultimate career milestone, but her immediate priority remains securing a spot in the play-offs. The Welsh team, led by head coach Rhian Wilkinson, holds a narrow 1-0 lead after a hard-fought first leg against Albania in their semi-final clash.

A draw in the return fixture at Llanelli would be enough to advance Wales to the next stage of qualification for Brazil 2024. Hughes reflected on the lifelong ambition of competing at a World Cup, recalling childhood dreams of the tournament while emphasizing that the focus must stay on Tuesday’s decisive match.

The second leg is now the most critical game to date, with the entire squad united behind the goal of progression.
