The Houston Cougars secured a hard-fought 35–32 victory over No. 18 Oklahoma State on Saturday night, moving to 6–1 overall and 3–1 in Big 12 play while clinching bowl eligibility.
Senior quarterback Conner Weigman delivered a masterclass, throwing for 343 yards and five touchdowns to anchor Houston’s offensive firepower. The Cougars took a commanding 14–3 lead into halftime, with Weigman’s precision passes to tight end Patrick Overmyer and wide receiver Amare Thomas (who finished with 126 yards and two touchdowns) setting the tone.
Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker fought back with 365 passing yards and three touchdowns of his own, cutting Houston’s lead to 28–25 in the fourth quarter before a clutch 85-yard drive by Weigman sealed the win with a 48-yard touchdown pass to Koby Young. Houston’s defense, playing without three starters, forced two turnovers and held off a late Cowboys rally to preserve the victory, further solidifying their Big 12 championship aspirations.
