The LPGA’s 2026 season has already seen multiple penalties for slow play, with five players receiving one-stroke deductions and two others hit with two-stroke fines. Carlota Ciganda, a repeat offender, was the first to face a two-stroke penalty at the Buick LPGA Shanghai after lingering too long on the course, ultimately finishing fifth despite the setback.
American Yealimi Noh also received a two-stroke penalty in China for exceeding the time limit, while South Korea’s Jin Hee Im and Thailand’s Aprichaya Yubol both lost by a single stroke in playoff and tournament settings after being penalized. Three other players—Victoria Cui (amateur), Cocona Sakurai, and Ziyan Meng (amateur)—have also been fined one stroke this season for violating the tour’s stricter pace-of-play rules, which now impose penalties starting at just six seconds over the allotted time.
The LPGA’s updated policy, introduced in 2025, has already resulted in eight one-stroke and four two-stroke penalties since March, marking a significant shift in enforcement compared to past years.
