Luis Arraez will miss the opening round of the National League postseason due to a sprained left ankle. Interim manager Don Mattingly confirmed on Monday that the infielder was left off the roster for the upcoming series against the Atlanta Braves.
Otto Kemp has been selected to fill the vacant spot on the active lineup.
Arraez sustained the joint damage during the sixth frame of a recent five-to-one defeat against the Milwaukee Brewers while attempting to evade a tag on a wayward throw. He required assistance from training staff to exit the field and has remained sidelined since that evening.
The team begins its postseason matchup on Tuesday.
