Following a trade to acquire J.J. McCarthy, the Giants organization has adjusted its active player count to carry only a pair of signal-callers on the main roster.
Reporter Mike Garafolo relayed that New York plans to release twenty-seven-year-old Jake Haener while working toward securing him on the practice squad. Haener had just been elevated to the active roster over the weekend following a severe knee injury sustained by Jaxson Dart the previous week.
Previously arriving in August after an offseason stint with the Chiefs, Haener entered the league as a fourth-round selection in 2023 and has logged action in eight total contests with one start, all occurring during the 2024 campaign with the Saints.
