Georgia football claims No. 1 spot in AP Poll after Week 6

The Georgia Bulldogs climbed to the top of the AP Poll after a dramatic 20-17 victory over Alabama on Saturday, ending their long run as the No. 2 team.

The win propelled Georgia into first place following a chaotic weekend in college football, where Texas fell to Oklahoma and Ohio State’s title hopes dimmed. With six consecutive wins—including victories over Alabama, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt—the Bulldogs now stand undefeated at 6-0 and are widely regarded as the nation’s best team.

Their next challenge arrives Saturday, October 17, when they host Auburn in a matchup Georgia coach Kirby Smart has framed as a physical battle. The Bulldogs’ defense and offensive resilience will be tested against a rested Auburn squad, which enters the game with momentum of its own.

Georgia’s ascent to No. 1 marks a pivotal moment in a season where dominance and consistency have defined their play.
