Gael Monfils lands new role shortly after his retirement from tennis
Following his retirement from professional tennis last month, Gael Monfils has transitioned into a leadership position. The French national federation has appointed the former world number six as the new captain for the country's Davis Cup squad.
Monfils concluded his 22-year playing career in October, which included a final appearance at the US Open in September and two career Grand Slam semifinal berths. His tenure as a player was celebrated with a formal tribute during the Paris Masters.
