Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar has been suspended for two games following a dangerous late-hit penalty during Thursday’s 4–1 loss to the New York Islanders. The incident occurred in the third period when Nazar delivered a high, illegal check to Islanders captain Bo Horvat, forcing the star winger out of the game and sparking a bench-clearing brawl.
Horvat, who had scored twice earlier in the contest, left the game with an injury and will now face an automatic hearing over the hit. The Blackhawks, winless on the road this season, fell behind early in the second period after allowing two quick goals in a defensive breakdown.
The suspension marks the latest setback for Chicago, which has struggled with costly penalties and defensive lapses in its first two road games of the season.
