FOX’s Colin Cowherd Gives Up on Lincoln Riley’s USC Over Concerning $70M Factor: “It’s Not Easy”

Analyst Colin Cowherd recently discussed the mounting pressure surrounding head coach Lincoln Riley following the Trojans' 41-27 defeat against Oregon at the Coliseum, which lowered the team's ranking to 18th nationally. Cowherd noted that financial hurdles complicate any potential coaching change, citing a staggering seventy million dollar buyout alongside even higher costs for a successor.

USC has continually battled defensive struggles, surrendering 504 total yards to the Ducks while backup quarterback Dylan Raiola threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Despite massive investments from donors, including three hundred million dollars for a modern athletic facility and thirty-five million dollars annually in name, image, and likeness funds, Riley has yet to guide the program to the College Football Playoff during his five seasons at the helm.
