Former Seahawks assistant takes over Panthers defense after Ejiro Evero firing

Following a 27-19 defeat to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, the Carolina Panthers have dismissed defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero. In his place, the organization has appointed Todd Wash as the interim defensive coordinator to lead the unit for the remainder of the season, starting with a Week 17 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Wash, who previously served as a defensive line coach for Seattle from 2011 to 2012, has been with Carolina since 2023 and faces the challenge of improving a defense currently ranked 27th in points allowed and 23rd in total yardage. The Panthers' leadership structure remains heavily influenced by former Seattle personnel, including general manager Dan Morgan, head coach Dave Canales, associate head coach Darrell Bevell, and tight ends coach Pat McPherson.
