Dani Carvajal, the veteran right-back who spent 23 years at Real Madrid and won 27 major trophies—including six Champions League titles—has completed a move to La Liga side Getafe on a free transfer. The 34-year-old, who captained the club during his final seasons, joins the Madrid-based outfit after his contract expired in June, ending a legendary career that also included 51 caps for Spain, featuring in the 2023 Nations League triumph and the 2024 European Championship victory.
His signing comes as Getafe, currently in 11th place in La Liga, welcome his experience and leadership, though Carvajal’s recent campaigns have been hampered by injuries, including a cruciate ligament tear in October 2024 and another serious knee setback the prior year. The deal runs until June 2025, marking a new chapter for a player whose consistency and longevity have made him one of football’s most decorated defenders.
