Ahead of the upcoming NHL season, the Florida Panthers trimmed their roster by placing eight players on waivers to assign them to their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. The group designated for reassignment comprises forwards John Beecher, Sam Lafferty, Cole Reinhardt, Kai Schwindt, Cole Schwindt, and Nathan Bastian, alongside defensemen Donovan Sebrango and Alexander Petrovic.
Before heading to waivers, Bastian secured a one-year deal worth $850,000, which includes a minor league salary of $525,000 and $575,000 in guaranteed money, having previously joined the team's training camp on a professional tryout. Additionally, head coach Paul Maurice indicated no concern regarding the status of Brady Tkachuk, who has been sidelined from skating since exiting a pre-season match on September 22, ahead of the team's season opener.
