Florian Lipowitz is planning to adjust his 2027 strategy by incorporating more one-day Classics into his schedule to enhance his overall capabilities. Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe manager Ralph Denk supports this shift, believing the intensity of single-day events will benefit Lipowitz's general classification goals.
This follows a 2026 season where the German rider, a former Tour de France podium finisher, won the Tour of Slovenia and placed third in Catalunya, second in the Basque Country, and second in Romandie, after starting the year eighth in the Algarve.
Lipowitz's Tour de France campaign ended prematurely when a collarbone fracture during the stage 16 time trial forced him to abandon while in fifth place. After a 50-day recovery, he returned at the Giro della Toscana and competed in four one-day races, including a 47th-place finish at the Montreal World Championships.
Looking ahead, Denk wants Lipowitz to prepare for the challenging Haute-Savoie World Championships. While Lipowitz and Remco Evenepoel served as co-leaders at the Tour, they resolved a brief disagreement regarding a stage 6 lead-out.
Lipowitz missed Il Lombardia due to illness, where Evenepoel finished fourth and Paul Seixas won.
