The Arizona Fall League is serving as a critical proving ground for MLB organizations evaluating which prospects deserve a spot on their 40-man roster before the November 17 deadline. Among the most prominent candidates are Nationals right-hander Jarlin Susana and D-backs second baseman Demetrio Crisantes, both ranked in MLB’s Top 100, who are considered locks for protection due to their high ceilings.
Susana, Washington’s fourth-ranked prospect, and Crisantes, Arizona’s top prospect, have already demonstrated elite talent, making their roster spots nearly certain as no Top 100 prospect has ever gone unprotected in recent memory.
Other intriguing cases include Brewers outfielder Jett Williams, acquired in the Freddy Peralta trade, who battled injuries but showed versatility across three positions while flashing power and speed. Despite a subpar .233 batting average in 81 games, his athleticism and positional flexibility align with Milwaukee’s organizational needs.
Meanwhile, Pirates/Orioles pitcher Tyler Reilly, a fifth-round pick in 2023, returned from Tommy John surgery in June and logged 39 innings across three levels, though his control remains a work in progress. Also drawing attention is Brewers infielder Luis Escobar, who regressed in Double-A after a breakout 2025 season but still projects as a high-contact, power-surging prospect at just 22 years old.
