Ahead of their Week 2 Thursday night clash with the Buffalo Bills, the Detroit Lions intend to maintain a heavy reliance on Jahmyr Gibbs out of the backfield. Following the departure of David Montgomery, Detroit turned to Gibbs as their primary runner in a 31-30 overtime victory over the New Orleans Saints.
The recently extended playmaker recorded personal bests with 34 total touches and 29 rushes, amassing 156 yards on the ground alongside two touchdowns.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell confirmed that Detroit plans to keep feeding Gibbs at a similar rate going forward. Defensively, Campbell emphasized that slowing down Buffalo's attack must begin with containing dual-threat quarterback Josh Allen, even as the Lions head into the matchup labeled as road underdogs.
