Eriksen leaves Wolfsburg by mutual consent

Midfielder Christian Eriksen has officially parted ways with Wolfsburg via a mutual agreement to dissolve his contract, which was originally set to expire in mid-2027. The 34-year-old athlete, who earned 151 caps for his national team, noted that prioritizing proximity to his relatives in Denmark was his primary motivation.

Eriksen last took the pitch in June, following a medical emergency involving a collapse during an international friendly match against Ukraine roughly three months prior, and previously experienced a cardiac arrest during a European Championship fixture against Finland in 2021.

After arriving as a free agent following his departure from Manchester United, the veteran playmaker accumulated 34 appearances during his tenure with the German second-tier outfit, whose sporting director Dieter Hecking confirmed that management granted the player total autonomy regarding his career path. Having previously represented clubs such as Ajax, Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Brentford, Eriksen expressed confidence that the squad remains well-positioned to achieve its objective of returning to the top flight.
